Myofunctional Therapist

I am glad you have found our center making a big step towards achieving your optimal health.
I am a former Dental Hygienist with broad experience in different dental fields and settings. For 17 years in dentistry I enjoyed working with general and geriatric population, special needs children, in orthodontic and oral surgery offices, and finally as a Clinical Instructor in Dental Hygiene Department at TOURO Dental School in Hawthorne, NY.
Now I am extremely happy to be a Myofunctional Therapist guiding people to achieve their best health. I feel passionate to help them find a root cause of health problems by correcting breathing, sleeping and minimizing/eliminating pain. When I work with patients, I always try to connect orofacial myofunctional findings to the whole body health and get the bigger picture.
As a myofunctional therapist I look for the symptoms of restricted oral tissues as tongue-tie, lip-tie, cheek tie, tongue thrust swallowing pattern which all affect functional development of facial and oral structures. I also evaluate chewing pattern and posture. I focus on airway and work with sleep disordered breathing. All of these important symptoms are critical for our overall health and well-being and often overlooked in our health care system. I work with these dysfunctions and basic habits correcting them and allowing us to get to the root cause of many bigger health issues.
I teach exercises for face and mouth with focusing on awareness, neuromuscular re-education through sensory input to gain control over movements and airway health. Treatment plan is built individually based on person’s symptoms, concerns, and challenges in a way to achieve optimal results. There is no “one-size-fits-all” treatment plan in myofunctional therapy.
Myofunctional therapy helps to eliminate/reduce muscle tension and chronic facial pain, facial and body muscles compensations, dysfunctional behavior (tongue thrust) and habits (nail biting, thumb sucking, etc), eliminate/correct mouth breathing, low tongue posture and open mouth posture. I also provide frenectomy (tongue-tie release) pre and post operative exercises and care helping to restore normal function of the tongue and orofacial muscles.
In our center we work collaboratively to address your overall well-being and enhance your health.
